London Fashion Week

Okay, okay. I know I'm a bit late, but LONDON FASHION WEEK HAS BEGUN!
So yes, it is day three of this monumental event, and having missed out on the weekend, I've been topping up my fashion thirst with daily visits to the London Fashion Week Live site. The coverage has been immense.

 My favorite collection  by far has been Holly Fulton. First look out on the catwalk and BAM, I was sold. It was just brilliant. Classic Fulton, the collection was full of impact, a flair of the chic and fur, and absolutely delectable prints. I hate winter, but if I was wrapping up in Holly Fulton, I wouldn't have a care in the world.

Words of Wisdom

Domingo Rodriguez

When you think of fashion, most might think Prada, Chanel, McQueen; all of which ground breaking in individual ways, but soon, the recent London College of Fashion graduate Domingo Rodriquez will epitomise the word fashion, having already designed a capsule collection for ASOS.com.  It is clear in his work that he mixes a touch of delicacy and masculinity to create something truly astonishing. The cuts of the clothing, especially the jackets and coats are not always conventional. The tailoring involved within the menswear jackets take inspiration from extremely traditional pieces, however are modified into a unique and youthful way. There is a definite feeling of fluidity especially within the AW 10/11 collection, combined with a youthful sense of naivety and venerability. One of my favourite things about this particular collection is that traditional pieces are just slightly tweaked. For example, a traditional overcoat,  double breasted, but in a very minimalistic way. No buttons, no pockets, incredibly simple and clean cut. Or even the lapels on a jacket; not quite removed, but make less obvious. Another example, a pocket, at a slight angle.

Although to some, Rodriquez' work may seem dull, too plain, and have nothing exciting to them, I urge people to look deeper than that. Domingo Rodriguez is actually incredibly daring; to mix the masculine with the feminine in such a subtle way, with the use of sheer, tight, and sometimes even shiny fabrics to apply to a menswear collection. Furthermore, the use of delicate flowers in one collection, a slightly bolder move in a male expression of femininity. 

Even when looking past the inclusion of a feminine touch, and the slight tweaks, within each collection is a new surprise. His SS11 collection boasts a full range of clothing, however entirely in black, something highly unexpected for a spring/summer collection, as well as going against the summer trends. Furthermore, something that I admire, is that on one jacket of the collection, it seems to be almost incomplete; no lining on the inside of the jacket, no seams at the bottom, but somehow, it fits so perfectly within the collection, consistent of its experimental nature. 

Domingo Rodriguez seems to be an evolutionary force of nature, with an unassuming determination of changing fashion, for people to think about what they're putting on their backs in the morning, a slight change to wake people up.  

  

Boxing Day Sales

SALES ARE IN!

Well it's boxing day, and what does that mean? Yes, Boxing Day sales! Right now VAT is still at 17.5% but due to the increase in January, shops on Oxford Street are having a much needed boost in sales after the terrible weather conditions which left stores deserted. I myself have not hit the sales yet, however tomorrow may be my day. Uniqlo and Topshop have some almighty sales. I'd better not miss out.

Wishlist

Some people aren't fans of Jack Wills, but I really don't understand why. The clothing is just so excellent, and even if it's a simple tee with the word Wills, it is effortless impact. On my wishlist is this gorgeous  dress by Jack Wills. If anyone out there is thinking of sending me this, I'd be forever in their debt.

Sarah Burton, kudos

As the first official collection for Alexander McQueen under new direction is revealled, the beauty and fluidity of the late McQueen flows through the masterpieces effortlessly as the elfish looking models sahay their way down the asthetic catwalk. It would be a hard task to think of what great power would take over the McQueen legacy, but when the choice is revealed, the sex is surprising. Sarah Burton, having worked along-side the original creator for 15 years, it's clear his influence has rubbed off. The symbolic clarity and vision of Alexander McQueen's successor is amazing.Oh the splendour and detailing, it can only be down to genius. When I heard of his death, I thought, "That's it, alternative high fashion is dead. I'll never see an Alexander McQueen collection that will live up to the rest." Sarah, how I love thee. Her debut collection for Alexander McQueen is nothing short of genius. Only a true apparel professional could have the imagination and vision to create this collection. Sarah Burton, I have noting but respect for you.

With this dress I absolutely LOVE the belt. It's beautiful, it's detailed, and terrifically embellished. 

Wow, wow, wow. A gold leaf embellished tuxedo. Can I have it?

This may possibly be the definition of my style decadence. Leather and gold = LOVE 

This dress can only be described as godly. Gold upon gold; it's like the creation of a Greek goddess. 

This is something that I can only call natural beauty. Butterflies are like the symbol of pure beauty, of which this is. 

I just love it. No words can describe what I really feel about this dress. 

This dress is layered to a ridiculous extent, but it seems like its air light, with the model gliding effortlessly along with the dress. I feel that if I were wearing this, I could fly like a bird. 

Under Construction

Sorry everyone, my blog is currently looking terrible, but it is on the mend. Within a week it will have improved. In addition, I will be uploading more of the clothes I have made  in the near future.
